Since 2021 I have been a senior member of the Association of Conference Interpreters (VKD) in the German Federal Association of Interpreters and Translators (BDÜ). This means that the VKD has recognized my previous work achievements of more than 200 conference days as an interpreter and has included me in its circle of certified, highly qualified and professional interpreters.
If you need interpreters for your event, the following explanations of the different types of interpreting might help you understand, which is suited best for your event. Of course, you can always contact me via the contact form and I will be happy to advise you on your event. I can also give you information on the number of interpreters required or ISO standards for interpreting booths. You can be sure that I will find a suitable solution for your event.
You can also find important information about interpreting on the VKD website at: https://vkd.bdue.de/en/for-clients.
In consecutive interpreting, the interpreting is provided after a segment of a speech. Depending on the length of the segment, it can either be divided into short segments or interpreted in full. Thanks to sophisticated note-taking technology, interpreters are able to interpret longer contributions consecutively and faithfully as well.
For consecutive interpreting, you should allow approximately twice the speaking time for the contributions to be interpreted at your event.
You can also find an example of one of my consecutive assignments in the podcast "Pressefreiheit Grenzenlos" by Reporters Without Borders, for whose recording I was the German voice of the Nigerian journalist Philip Obaji jr.: https://www.reporter-ohne-grenzen.de/podcast/folge-20-nigeria
If you want the participants at your event (be it a workshop, conference, lecture, or other event) to be able to follow the spoken word in another language almost in real time, it is advisable to use simultaneous interpreting. In this case, the interpreters will work on site or remotely using a booth or other technical means in teams of at least two interpreters in order to support and alternate with each other and thus ensure the best possible quality for your event.
If you require interpreting teams, I will be happy to suggest additional interpreters. I can also arrange the technical equipment for you if required.
What was pretty much unthinkable before the coronavirus pandemic is now a reality. Technological developments in recent years have made it possible to hold conferences online and include interpreters remotely. I would gladly advise you on the possibilities of holding a hybrid or exclusively online event and how to include interpreting, or put you in touch with the relevant conference technology companies. After all, you shouldn't have to do without interpreting services, even if you and your conference participants are in different locations.
Valuable advice on ideal working conditions for remote interpreting or remote interpreting can be found on the website of the German Association of Conference Interpreters (VKD) at:

Interpreters use liaison interpreting for the two-way exchange of information, for example in negotiation meetings or during medical examinations. This is a special form of consecutive interpreting. Therefore, a little more time is needed for the speech.
Liaison interpreting is, for example, also used for guided tours or table discussions.
The Higher Regional Court of Dresden has certified me as a publicy appointed interpreter and translator for the English language. As a result, I am authorized to accompany you as an interpreter when dealing with authorities, such as at a marriage ceremony, to appointments with notaries or in court, and recognizes that I have the necessary skills and qualifications to do so.
Whispered interpreting (also known as chuchotage) is a special form of simultaneous interpreting for a small number of people. An interpreter sits in close proximity to the person requiring interpretation and whispers to them. As interpreters only speak at a limited volume and have to block out additional background noise, whispered interpreting is considered to be particularly demanding. For this reason, you should always consider hiring a team of two for events where whispered interpreting is to be used.
